Even the most intelligent start the introduction to my sons with the same question, "So, what sports do you play?" Not, how are your grades, are you a scholar, what college are you planning to attend or what do you want to do when you graduate. We encourage our kids to go to school, but we give more props to them as athletes, than as scholars. Now I love sports and I am all for kids playing sports and aspiring to play in college and professionally, BUT they all can't be the next Jordan.
We need doctors, and entrepreneurs, and business men and sneaker designers and teachers and good fathers and faithful husbands....
